PlateLens AI is a food and calorie-tracking app intended for adults. This policy explains what the app processes and your choices.
PlateLens may process meal photos you choose to scan, calorie and macronutrient information, manual food entries, daily calorie goals, reminder settings, and information entered into the optional calorie calculator such as age, height, weight, sex used by the formula, activity level, and goal.
When you request an AI scan, the selected image is sent through the PlateLens backend hosted by Vercel to OpenAI for analysis. The API request is configured with model storage disabled. PlateLens does not intentionally retain meal images on its backend after the request is processed. Camera photos are not saved to your Photos library unless you request it or enable auto-save.
Meal history, planned foods, calorie goals and reminder preferences are primarily stored on your device. Free-trial usage and entitlement state may use secure Apple Keychain storage, including synchronizable storage where available, to help prevent repeated trial use after reinstalling the app.
Purchases are handled by Apple. PlateLens receives entitlement information needed to determine whether Pro features are available and does not receive your full payment-card details.
PlateLens uses Apple, Vercel and OpenAI to provide app distribution, purchases, backend hosting and AI features. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
Locally saved meal history remains until you delete it or remove applicable app data. PlateLens does not currently maintain a user-account database containing your meal history. You can delete meal history from Legal & Privacy in the app. For other privacy requests, contact support.
You can use manual calorie entry without sending a meal photo to AI. Camera, Photos and notification permissions can be changed in iOS Settings. Auto-save is off by default.
